Just wondering which mic's everyone uses for vocals? Personally I use a Shure SM58, and while the SM57 is typically used for mic'ing guitar cabs, and drums I have found that they work really well for vocals too...

I use a 58 as well. I also have a couple of peavey celebritys that sound nearly as good we use for backups and such. Other than that I'm gonna have to go shopping. Anyone ever use the PG48's ?

I have never used the PG48's. The reviews on them are mixed on Guitar Center, but for the price, you can buy a three pack for what you get a single SM58, I guess it wouldn't hurt to give them a try....

My favorite studio vocal mic is a EV PL20 (seen a lot in radio). I use that darn thing about every day. Out in the real world (for voice), I use Sony lavaliers. Ooops. This is music. Not TV. Anyway, the Sony lavaliers (tie clip mics) work great for recording acoustic guitars. I literally clip one right below the strings on the sound hole edge. GREAT little condenser mics. I've also got a wireless one. Wanna trade?

I find if turn down the volume slider all the way I sound better. I have used some really god AKG mics in the past,I just bought this 58 at a pawnshop for $10 and it had a broken wire inside. Always looking for a deal ya know.

Yeah I got my SM 58 from ebay really cheap because it had a dent in the grill, so I just put a foam cover over it, nobody knows the difference and it works great. Also got a brand new SM57 from ebay for $20 because it belonged to a relative who had passed away, and the seller didnt really know anything about it, or what it was worth....so I got a good deal..I think

Being a drummer I use an AKG c-420 headset mic. I also love my shure in-ear monitor system. For my kit I use akg mics on the toms, cymbals, and for the kick drum I use the best mic ever
YOU GUESSED IT a AKG D112
NO I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF AKG NOR AM I ENDORSED BY AKG

I think my Mic is freakin sweet. I have an OLD vector 50's mic that i got from an old baptist church for $10 (it didn't work), i took out the internals and replaced it with the internals out of an SM-58. I have used a lot of SM-58's before but none of them sound like mine. plus it looks freaking sweet when you are playing a live show and you use a vintage mic. People love it.
