Just wondering how many of you like to do karaoke. I know I have done it a few times, and I hate it. Seems like it's just too fake for me.I know a lot of musicians I've talked to don't like to sing karaoke either. Is that just a musician thing,or am I just a little stage shy? I didn't think I was,I mean I've sang in front of people for years. Anyway what do you think?

I HATE Karaoke too.... The first time I went and listened when they had karaoke was when Shania Twain's "Any Man Of Mine" was a big hit. I heard about 100 terrible versions of that song in just a few hours, and immediately decided I don't like it... I would much rather listen to a live band, or even better yet be onstage myself.... And it seemed like for awhile karaoke was getting all the jobs over the live bands, but I think it was just a fad, and seems like more live bands are coming back now.....

I'm not a big Karaoke fan. Actually I feel that Karaoke has really ruined it for the bands. The venues would rather pay a "few pennies" for someone to come in and do karaoke, versus paying a live band. And also when you hear some totally drunk people get up to "sing" and all they can do is scream unknown words to this planet....pretty much ruins it too.

One time we were playing at the VFW in Galmey Mo, and after we were done, the others in the band, and some friends who went with us decided to stop at a bar that was doing karaoke, we were just checking it out, anyway they were doing hard rock karaoke, and the guys up there singing were literally taking bottles of beer and pouring it down there face as they were trying to sing....really utterly disgusting, and needless to say we didnt stay long....

I dunno when you have it in your soul you want to sing and you don't have a band in your hip pocket, you have to start somewhere. That's what I've done for the past two years and I feel it's been a training ground.

The only thing I hate more than Karaoke is what I call the "KARAOKE FALLOUT SYNDROME" Every since this electronic scourge reared it's ugly head, every wannabee, hack singer that happens to walk into a live music situation now wants to sing with the band. If you are crazy enough to allow them you get one or more of the following when they walk on stage.
(Karaoke singer) f I get lost can you help me with the words? (Band) No! it's not our job to remember the words to your song.
(Band) What key you sing it in (Karaoke singer) The key I sing it in is what ever the disc plays it in.
(Female karaoke singer) Do you know any Carrie Underwood? (band) NO. (female singer) Why not (band) due to the fact none of us are female, we decided to only play songs by male singers.
I'd go on but you get the point.

Confusious say: "musician who sing at karaoke is like restaraunt owner putting sandwich machine outside his front door"
