The one thing I have learned in home recording is that it is like a turntable for a stereo, the $200.00 turntable won't sound good if you have a $10.00 needle! If you use good vocal mics and good quality gtr pickups and drums with good wood tone, you can get a professional recording at home. The recording can only be as good as the source you feed it.

yeah this is good advice. I use drum samples sequenced together in cakewalk,I never could get a good drum sound,or a good drummer for that matter.

Even though I have a good sounding set of drums with a good tone, I still use loops in Cakewalk, like you, cause they sound just as good and it doesn't take as much time sub-grouping all the drums down to one channel to put on the computer. You gotta love todays technology!

Yeah I like them,it takes a while to figure out how to insert the rolls breaks and stuff, but once you get it down no one know the difference. I've been asked by drummers who was doing the drum track so I know it's good then

I have a .wav editor program that I use so I can take each drum set sound and lay it out on the edit screen to make my own beats and rolls. then I take it to the editor to chop off the beginning and ending so it is exactly four beats long (or how long you want it) and save it in a file to use any time I want. Almost any beat possible to play can be made that way. Being a drummer and doing this, should I feel ashamed?

What program you using to edit with splitrock? Maybe I should look into doing that myself,I do find some limits using premade samples.

When I bought my CD burner, it came with a Nero burning software driver CD. I didn't know what I had til I started playing with it a while and found that it was very useful for my originals as well as making my own loops. I bought the CD burner at best buy and it didn't say anything about the software that came with it. If you go to the Nero website, you might be able to find it available for download. It is called "Nero .Wav Editor".

I knew you were just razzing me, and I mean it sincerely when I say thank you, cause it makes me feel welcome to the forum. Well I'm glad you feel welcome....because that is the way it should be....to many stiff and upity forums out there and it just doesn't feel right.....so why now have a forum where you can joke around with others and have a good time.
