On stage how many guitars do you have in use? I know I used to have one main guitar, and one standby in case the worse happened. But now I've began learning songs, and some are in drop D tuning, some are DADGAE,some are 1/2 step below 440 with a drop D,I mean how many guitars are ya gonna need to play a wide variety of music. Oh I like to play in these different tunings, some cool sounds when you tune down a halfstep Just wondering. I mean you don't want to stand there and tune half the night..lol

I have never used more than one..Have never taken a backup Just make sure I have an extra set of strings, as I figure a broken string is about the worse thing that can happen...Sure if one breaks it will take a bit to change it, but usually I could get through until break. But luckily I dont ever remember breaking a string during a gig..Unlike TB, ask her about the time she broke a bass string, didn't have an extra set, so she had to play a couple sets with a broken string..LOL..But she made it through...As for drop D tuning, one of the bands I used to play in did a couple songs where I would drop the low E to a D, but just takes a second, nothing a ever felt that I needed another guitar tuned that way...

I know that about half the new songs I've been learning are drop d tuning, this isn't a real problem except with the Aria which has a free floating Kahler Flyer on it,any little tuning change will throw the whole thing out of tune. This is why I always have a backup, when you break a string there is no saving it..lol

Yeah Floyds are really bad about throwing off the whole program if ya break a string...one more reason to despise Floyds...LOL But I have a geetar with a Kahler Flyer, and of course the Fender vintage trem..and have broken strings on them ((thankfully never during a gig)) and I have not had problems with the other strings...except for the Floyd ;D

I used to only bring one or two to a gig. But over the years I have started collecting guitars, not really anything vintage or expensive but just guitars that interest me or are fun to play. Now I have about 15 working guitars and I play them all. I have fallen into this trap now that I like to use a certain guitar for certain types of songs or I even do some songs that I have a guitar set up just for that song. I cant bring 15 rigs to a gig so I try to choose wisely. I try to limit myself to 4 at a time but it is getting harder to leave the other 11 behind.... Someone help me.....

Cool,it would appear you like black geetarz, nothing wrong with that I happen to have one or three myself. the LP Junior has a cool look, nice collection I do like the black but it wouldn't be my first choice, it just seems that whenever I come across a good deal the guitar is black. My first choice is usually red or dark wine. I just bought a used PRS, and of course it is black with all gold hardware, it is a beautiful guitar but I would love to have it in Red or something else. I wonder if black is the most popular color or something? I dont think I would ever turn away a good guitar deal because of the color. The Junior you mentioned was also black when I got it but I airbrushed it to the red fade you see now. It gets a lot of attention.

I have two guitars on stage, one as backup in case a string would pop.
I will eventually get to the point where I have to play with 2 guitars atleast on stage, one for drop and one for regular. but so far we just tune down for the drop stuff.
for my solo stuff I use two guitars though so far, my accoustic and classical
