I've been haggling in these for a couple of weeks and working to get the timing right, but anyway I went to Branson today and picked up the boys new inspiration. A 5 piece set of Tama Rockstars, Comes with 22" Bass, 10" 12" 14" and 16" toms, and he threw in a new slingerland hi hat stand for $125. No snare but we have that covered as well as cymbals. Once we set them up and did the necessay repairs, cleaning and head changes they sound freakin' awesome. So Bobby if you make it over here and see this man Thanks! Here are the pics

Those sure look nice, rock stars are a good kit, I'm unfamiliar with the ply makeup on those kits but for certain they are gonna last him a good long time and sound great too.

Well they sure have a great sound Van,and you can tell when you pick them up there is a lot more drum there..lol.Up close they have some scuffs and scrapes, and a lot of character markings, but that just comes from being loved on I think. My guitars are not beauty queens either, they're tools, and tools get used. But they sure do sound like a million dollars. He is really happy with them, that's all that matters

I did some checking Van they are not Rockstars, they are swingstars. The tags were removed on the outside, they do have Tama stamped inside though. They have a 6 ply mahogany shell makeup. Much deeper sounding than the Basswood on the other set. They just have a more lively thump,I don't know how to explain it.

That is probably because mahogany is a much better wood than basswood, they use both those woods on guitars also, the mahogany is used on high end guitars, where basswood is used on the budget models....

Its hard keeping up with Tama brands, depends upon what decade you are in as to what model is the good, better, best category. Some like the SuperStars have apparently come and gone in production and then come back, its really rather a brain game trying to keep up with them. Glad he got what he wanted, its a quality set and thats all that matters if hes getting the sound out of them he likes. Oh yeah, I'm next in line after Robo...

Ok sounds good to me..lol These,by what I was told when I bought them are early 90's vintage, and yeah it doesn't matter as long as they sound good, they could be yellow with orange polka dots I wouldn't care..lmao
