So, a couple of months ago I won a pair of $440 SoundTech B5 speakers from an auction in Wichita. They're not top end but I'd used them quite a bit up in Canada, years ago, and got I them for $87 with tax. My in-laws were holding onto them for me till I could get down there to pick them up. To make things easier, they met me in a mall parking lot because I'm not so sure about getting around Wichita.
On the same trip, I made arrangements for a guy to drive from Hutchinson KS down to Wichita to sell me his Gretsch Catalina Maples. I got the 6 piece kit plus the mounting hardware for $300 less than the new price of $750. He met me at the same mall parking lot.
In the same parking lot, between the drum delivery and the speakers showing up, another guy met me and sold me a pair of LP bongos that match the congas I already have. New, they're $100, I paid $30.
After lunch with the in-laws, I went a 1/2 block over to the Guitar Center and swapped a power amp for all the hardware I needed to go with the kit.
Gas to Wichita (where it was $.12/gal cheaper than at home) = $40. $1250 worth of gear = $560
Not having to drive all over God's Green Acre, and getting lost more likely than not, to pick these things up = $20 for lunch.
Having a VERY cool wife who puts up with my little road trips, wheeling & dealing, and having a Gretsch practice kit
.... PRICELESS!

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal there Larry. I would just about bet that you probably met the in-laws and all others in the Towne East mall parking lot, located at E. Kellogg (E 54 highway) and Rock Road. I believe they have put in a few things in the strip mall that is catty corner from the big mall there. Anyhow, sounds like you did great for the money and I hope you enjoy all the new toys!!!
