I have been plagued by blowing compression drivers. First the old Peavey 22a's then the replacement 22xt's so I spun the old peavey magnets off and replaced them with a GMI 750 watt unit. The price was right too $50 a pair, and they sound more crisp and clean than the Peavey units. The Peavey 22 series drivers are only 60 watts, and when you run them in a biamp system they are not protected by the crossover,so POOF! Anyway we gave the GMI a 5 hour workout at practice, and I've been pumping them hard all week no problems at all. No crackle, nothing. I think these are worth looking at if you need a cheap replacement driver. EBAY Link

An update on these, I used them a long time and for normal practice situations they were great, but under a heavy load they get hot and fail. I used them outside in 90+ weather and a couple of hours of having them cranked the y both blew, so I went back to the RX22 Peavey drivers.
