A single ply head will be more responsive and a lot more crisp while a 2 multiply will be a little more sluggish, but have a deeper tone. the powerstroke head is a good head, but the coating wears off super fast, like the first practice it'll be showing the clear under it. Logan like the evans coated head with an aqaurian tone ring on it. He said the foam was too much on the snare head and went to the control ring. Plus it's a wooden Yamaha Stage Custom snare, which has a mellow tone. It is a good sounding snare.

Well it's all a matter of taste on this. The only way to really decide is to play a few different ones and see what works for you.

Sweet! Did you get to try any of them out before hand? Usually those guys in the dept are pretty knowledgeable.

I must correct myself I the head I bought was EC-1 clear coated. I just got done playing and its much better than the Remo Powerstroke 3. It has better rebound and the built in tone ring takes out the over tones sounds great! Oh Yes by the way the head cost $20 for 14"]
