So I'm gonna open this can of worms. Do you like Solid State or tube amps? I have a Peavey Supreme solid state halfstack, which I really like the sound of, plus it's reliable. 2 Years and the only thing I've had to do is Wipe it with Armorall. The other guitarist has a Mesa Dual rectifier and says nothing sounds better, but it's had 3 tube replacements in the year and half since it was bought new. To my ear, they sound identical since I'm running the Line 6 Floor POd set to Mesa, and I'm telling you there is not enough difference in our tone for me to justify the $2000 difference. What do you think?

Well since I own a Fender Deluxe Reverb, I guess I would have to say tubular. I have played on some SS amps in the past, but none have really sounded as good as the Fender. Although some of the newer SS amps I have played on do sound pretty dang good...

Well there prolly is a little more tone crunch in a tube amp, but the difference in upkeep and price is enough to make me stay with a modeler. Line6 has some killer sounds. Through a halfstack it's just mind bending the amount of crunch and grunge comes out on the ground..lol I think a modeling pedal in front of a tube amp prolly defeats the purpose of buying one in the first place.

You are right it does, but with my Digitech I can turn off the amp modeling, which is what I do, and use if for the effects, chorus, compressor, flanger, distortion, phase shifter, and such

I use my amp as a power amp and let the Line 6 do all the stuff. That way I can go from a plexi with delay and flange to a princeton with reverb and chorus to a Mesa with heavy delay and phase to clean all with the touch of one button. Here's a bit of that tone I'm talking about, this is a recording of the band. That big huge guitar is my SS Peavey with a mic in front of it www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1102537&songID=9615670

OK so since this post I have bought a Peavey Mace. 160 watts of 6l6 tube power. This thing is a monster! I use it on top of a 412 cab and it will kill small animals. It is a beast, tone to spare. I have to say that the tube power is a lot more warm and has awesome sustain. I still use the line 6 for all the tone settings, and the tube power, it is a noticable difference though
